Gilbert Morris, Principal
Born and raised in the Rocky Lane area, Gilbert has been with FVSD for the past 20 years. He has held the role of Principal at all three La Crete schools at various points in his career (SHES, RVCS & LCPS) including the La Crete Learning Store. Gilbert is currently Principal of SHES in La Crete.
Growing up in the region, Gilbert fell in love with the long daylight hours of summer and the contrast it provides to our long dark winters.
“I love going back to work! The excitement of starting something new, the commitment to do things better and the anticipation of seeing new and familiar faces always makes the start of a school year so exciting for me.”
Rachel Dika, Assistant Principal
Local to the La Crete area, Rachel has lived in the region her entire life – minus a few years in the city attending university. After the hustle and bustle of city life, Rachel knew she wanted to raise her family in a small town with opportunities to grow, learn and live in a place that cares about community and the people that live in it. Since returning to the area, Rachel has taught Grade 1, been an Inclusive Education Coordinator and is now Assistant Principal of SHES.
Rachel loves the natural beauty of our region – the vibrant yellow canola fields, the beautiful fall colors, the smell of the harvest and the sound of the mighty Peace River – but the many beautiful people she has met over the years is what makes our region a great place to put down roots.
“I am looking forward to another great year of tackling challenges, celebrating successes, embracing new learning and meeting new students, families and staff!”
